ZEN KATYE A

This text was written by two people who enrolled in the intermediate Haitian Creole class offered by the Centre Toussaint. These people were one of those who obtained the highest grade for their written composition. Each student was asked to write a dialogue, individually or in teams of two, in which different elements of learning would be found. The results were fantastic. It is impressive to see the creativity of everyone! The Centre Toussaint is proud to present you original texts written in Haitian Creole. All texts have been edited by Sly Toussaint. Enjoy your reading!

Tripotay de vwazin k ap rakonte zen katye a

Pandan yon chalè ete, nan yon ti vilaj ki lwen lwen, Ivwoz t ap bale galri a. Bèlsè l rive san souf, li kouri pou li di l rimè jounen an.

Ivwoz: Lisyèn! Kijan ou ye? Li sitèlman bonè, poukisa ou prese wè m?
Lisyèn: Ou pa konn kisa? M wè manmzèl Sofoni kite plas Tonton Jan Klod, maten an. Li gade m epi voup, li manke chape poul li!
I: Ki moun? Sofoni? Vwazin konpè Nestò a? Èske se li men ki marye ak Fatal la?
L: Ditou! Se lòt la, ki rete anfas nan gwo koulè krèm nan.
I: Manmzèl? Ki te mete on ti wòb wouj klere nan maryaj Pasyans lan?
L: Wi, m kwè sa! Se li menm!
I: Pa li menm! M pa kwè sa! Avèk Tonton Jan Klod…? Mwen tande Sofoni te konn sakrifye kabrit pou fè posyon lanmou. Se Madan Rejin ki te ban m nouvèl sa a lotrejou.
L: Se li menm menm!
I: Podyab Jan Klod, yo pyeje l!… Manyen konte m! Èske w te pale avè l?
L: Yès! M vin fasafas avè l antravè lari a. Mwen mande l kisa l ap fè la, li pèdi mo! Li bafouye, li di: «M te vin pran ze pou m fè yon gato pou fèt nyès mwen an»… Anvan solèy leve? Ak yon bebidòl epi talon kikit?
I: Mmm Mmmm. Gad on zen pitit! An nou rive kot Mariz! Li pral kontan tande istwa sa a tou, wi! An nou di l!

In conclusion

Medam yo rive kot Mariz pou yo ba l zen an epi Mariz al rakonte yon lòt moun. Se nan konsa, tout moun vin konn zen katye a.
