HAITIAN DANCE
The Haitian musical landscape is so vast! We have the famous konpa, the zouk, the twoubadou, the carnival meringues... Not to forget all our traditional dances (more than a hundred in total such as yanvalou, ibo, nago, etc.) and all the other urbanized and haitianized types such as dancehall, rock, rap kreyòl, etc.
Some of our dances are very complex and require several years of practice and mastery. Others are simpler but just as fun and great for fitness.
Come and enjoy the diversity, the complexity and the pleasure of Haitian dance!

OUR BASIC PROGRAM
I took Haitian fitness dance classes at the Center and lost weight without even realizing it! It was so much fun! To do in the long term!
When I started Haitian folk dance lessons, there were many styles I didn't even know! Now, I feel closer to my culture.
I am of African origin and I loved seeing the similarities with the dances of the mother continent! I am a big fan of drums and percussion so I loved it.
Dancing is like a therapy for me! The music, the live drums, the social connection. It did me a lot of good, especially after several months of isolation.
